A 27 year old US Customs and Border Protection officer is found dead on South Padre Island after being reported missing for about an hour.
Over the weekend Luis Davila was with friends on the Island. He was then reported missing and was later found by Cameron County Constables dead on the beach.
On South Padre Island Saturday night a group of friends where at the Tiki Condo's on the north end of the Island. The group reported that their friend Luis Davila went missing around 3am. Cameron County Constables were called to search the area.
"A body washed up and Constables brought him in, turns out it was the same person they reported."
Davila was found near beach access three behind the Ocean Towers within the hour.
Inside the home of Davila's their mother and father are mourning the loss of their only child. Friends and co-workers were also there to pay their respects. No one chose to go on camera because they are still mourning the loss of Davila. However, we did talk to a co-worker who worked with davila for 5 years at Veterans Bridge's. She described him as intelligent...and loved what he did for a living.
US Customs and Border Protection have issued with state about their fellow officer.
"We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our officers and offer our deepest sympathy to the family."
South Padre Island Police are leading the investigation. An autopsy has been ordered.
