Police say the suspect kicked the victim several times in the back of the head and then tried to stab him, and for all for talking to his girlfriend.
43-year-old, Arnold Crecelius, was arrested outside a convenience store on Frontage Road and Boca Chica Boulevard last night after a citizen reported the suspect tried to stab a man.
"Police arrived and made contact with a 27-year-old man who reported he was sitting behind a convenience store and talking to a woman when the woman's boyfriend came and kicked him around the neck area."
But that wasn't enough for Crecelius. Public Information Officer with the Brownsville Police Department, Eddie Garcia, tells News Center 23, the suspect then pulled out a knife, swung it at the victim several times in an attempt to stab him.
"Luckily he was able to get away from him and sustained minor injuries. There was no bleeding from some markings that were left behind in the abdomen area."
The victim refused to be taken to the hospital for observation. Crecelius and his girlfriend left the scene on foot but not for long. Police caught up to the pair only blocks away and arrested the 43-year-old.
"Apparently they've known each other for several years."
After the attack, the victim went inside the store for help but a citizen had already called police. Crecelius is now charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The suspect remains behind bars on a $25,000 bond.
