In Brownsville a man is rushed to the hospital over the weekend after being shot twice near a local park. Cameron County Sheriff's continue their investigation into the shooting and are looking for the man that pulled the trigger .
Near Cameron Park the Cameron County Sheriff says that Johnny Salinas was shot twice.
The sheriff says it happened off Florencia Ave. late Saturday night. A car with two men in it pulled up to Salina's home off the avenue. They got out, got in a verbal argument with salinas, then four shots were fired by the gunman. Two of bullets struck Salinas. Salinas yelled to his brother for help. Salina's neighbor Sabino Vega Junior was awakened by the shots fired. He ran to Salinas who was lying in the street and aided him. Vega who is EMT certified said the victim was shot in the stomach and leg.
The Cameron County Sheriffs Department has not made any arrests in this shooting but there are working on leads and may know who the shooter is.
Salinas was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital on Saturday. The sheriff tells is he is now in stable condition.
The Cameron County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information to call 350-5551.
