U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City station seized more than 1,500 pounds of marijuana.
Agents on patrol near the town of La Casita just south of Rio Grande City spotted a white truck with a camper traveling north from the Rio Grande river at a high rate of speed on Wednesday. The agents attempted to follow the truck, but later found the it abandoned with 138 bundles of marijuana inside the camper valued at more than $1.2 million dollars.
The truck was seized and DEA assumed custody of the narcotics.
