Several local businesses are crediting a UTPA program for helping them cut costs and improve their operations. The program is also providing college students with much needed experience and preparing them for the workforce.
With the state of the economy weighing heavy and industry, manufacturers from around the globe must cut costs if they want to continue to succeed. At UTPA, there is a program in place that helps local businesses not only find ways to save money, but also eliminate waste from their daily operations and increase the speed of production. The Lean Six Sigma Academy, as it's called, partners a company with a graduate student from UTPA's College of Engineering and Computer Science and has them follow a business management strategy to create a plan of action.
