FYI, the reason Texas has an interest in preventing unplanned pregnancies is that it saves them money. None of the women who have been cut from the family planning program qualify for Medicaid-- until they become pregnant. It costs $200 on average for a year of family planning verses $11,000 for a Medicaid-paid birth.
Slashing the family planning program will cost Texas $230 million in additional Medicaid costs.
