Jay Gray reports reports on the latest in the George Zimmerman trial in Florida.

The prosecution in the George Zimmerman murder trial is close to wrapping up its case, Wednesday calling to the stand a firearms expert and a DNA analyst who examined evidence in the case.

The day began with the defense trying to block evidence from the state.

In a hearing outside the presence of the jury, the defense argued against the prosecution's plan to tell the jury about two criminal justice classes George Zimmerman took at a local college, along with a ride along with Sanford officers, and that he applied for a job as a police officer in Virginia.

Prosecutors argued the information was relevant to his behavior during the incident and his knowledge of investigative procedures.

Judge Deborah Nelson sided with the state.

Prosecutors called two of Zimmerman's professors before moving to a police firearms analyst to talk about the circumstances of the gunshot.

The defense's questioning focused on how the gun was used for self-defense.

Late Wednesday afternoon, a crime lab analyst testified that Trayvon Martin's DNA was not found on the pistol grip of George Zimmerman's gun.

The tests on other parts of that weapon were inconclusive.
