A new church in north Brownsville, titled Christ Church of the Valley, is nearly ready to open its doors but not without the help received along the way.
“People couldn't understand how we could put something up so fast but we had a lot of people,” says Pastor John Phillips. “One man was 86 years and had worked on forty other church projects.”
This group of volunteers is a part of World Mission Builders. A non-profit Christian missions organization that volunteers to build churches around the world.
“It was a tremendous answer to our prayers because it saved us probably over two hundred thousand dollars,” says Phillips. “In ten days the building was completely weathered in with the roof on and all the walls up.”
World Mission Builders helped construct the framework of the church this past January. It took the forty volunteers about 10 days to help build the foundation for the ten thousand square foot structure.
“They charged us nothing this is a love offering from them,” says Phillips. “Our goal is to continue to plant new churches in the Valley.”
But for now he is happy and focused on finishing the details of Christ Church of the Valley. Phillips hopes the church will be fully operational by this October.
