Twenty-nine year old Jessica Saldivar is hiding from authorities. She has been wanted by police since September and now local law enforcement needs your help tracking her down.
It all started a couple of months ago when Sadlivar was entering back in to the US from Matamoros. A check revealed she was wanted by another law enforcement agency.
"There was a warrant for her arrest out of Harris County on a theft charge." said Brownsville Police Dept., PIO, Eddie Garcia.
Customs and Border Protection agents were prepared to take her to the Cameron County Jail to be extradited back to Harris County, when Saldiva claimed to have stomach pains.
Agents transported her to an area hospital and she was handed over to the custody of a Brownsville police officer. During her stay, she was not cuffed and underwent various check-ups, some where the male officer could not be present.
"She took the opportunity while she was at the hospital, that she was being moved around from one location to another and made her escape from custody." said Garcia.
Police says she slipped out of her hospital gown and into her clothes and vanished.
Authorities report Saldivar does have family here in Brownsville as well as ties to Harris County. If you have any information on her whereabouts, contact Brownsville police or Crime Stoppers at 546-TIPS.
