Woman sentenced to jail for third DWI offense
SAN BENITO, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A jury has found a San Benito woman guilty for driving while intoxicated for the third time.
Maria Teresa Brown, 59, was sentenced to five years in prison, probated for six years, but will have to serve a mandatory 10 days in jail.
Brown was arrested on July 18, 2011 after veering off the road and driving into a tree.
The arresting officer had witnessed the accident and found a bottle of tequila in the front floorboard and Brown had failed a sobriety test.
Brown had previous convictions for DWI in May 2003 and March 2005.
