The first suspect tried in a murder for hire case was given her sentence today; life without parole.

Judge Rudy Delgado asked if Graciella Arjona is ready to hear her fate.  Arjona was convicted of capital murder; hiring somebody to kill her brother-in-law.  After a moment of gathering herself, Arjona muttered, "I guess."

Authorities say she and her sister plotted to pay Arjona's then-boyfriend $20,000 to kill Reyes Garcia from Mission.

She will now spend the rest of her life behind bars.

"That's not going to bring him back, but at least I don't have to see her again," said Guadalupe Garcia, Reyes' brother. "So that's pretty good."

Guadalupe says he's been coming to court with his family since day one.  He and Reyes' son had a chance to address Arjona after the sentence came down.

"I want to tell her why would she do that when my brother helped her out with her son when she kicked him out," Garcia said. "When she didn't have anywhere to live, my brother took care of her."

Arjona didn't even look at Garcia as he spoke to her. Three years to they day after Reyes was murdered, Guadalupe is seeing some justice.

"I want it to go away. I'm tired of it," Garcia said about the trial process. "It's kind of hard to just be here close to those people. Feels awful."

Things aren't over for the Garcia family. Three more suspects are set to go to trial this year.  Arjona's sister - who's also the victim's wife - is looking on Thursday to get some evidence thrown out before the trial.
