A woman is recovering after a driver backed into her at a gas station in Brownsville.

It happened at a Stripes store on Ruben Torres and Old Port Isabel road when a man started backing up his car as the woman opened the passenger door from her car. Emergency crews took the woman to her hospital and she's expected to recover. The male driver who hit the woman said his hand brake stopped working so police kept the driver at the scene and investigated the accident.
