Winter Storm Blasts Utah
High winds uproot trees and topple semi-trucks.
A powerful winter storm overturned trees and semi-trucks as it moved through Utah Wednesday night.
Woods Cross homeowner George Wiggins now has a wooden board for a front window, thanks to the mighty wind gusts, as well as some unsettled nerves.
"Scared the bejeezus out of me of course, came out and glass laying all over the place," he said.
The storm scared a lot of people with sudden thunder and lightning bursts, transformer explosions and blackouts.
At one point 21,000 customers were without power.
The majority of those were in the Salt Lake Valley.
Sandy was hardest hit early in the evening after a power substation blew.
Winds went above 90 miles per hour in some areas, blowing the snow sideways.
