Winter Preparation Tips For Your Vehicle
With harsher weather around the corner it's important to maintain and revamp certain items on your vehicle.
Ramon Rodriguez from Autocentric says the inspection of your battery is important.
Rodriguez says be especially mindful of all hoses and belts, "If the hoses are brittle, change them out."
Changing and monitoring your radiator fluid can be another measure you take to prep your car for harsher weather.
It's suggested that you use a premixed, antifreeze solution called 50/50, that way it saves you the trouble of measuring and mixing the the appropriate volume of water and antifreeze.
The radiator fluid can tend to deteriorate over time, so be sure to change it out once every two years.
Another important tip is to make sure your windshield washer reservoir is filled with proper windshield washer fluid and not water.
"If it goes down to freezing point, the reservoir will tend to expand and since it's made out of plastic it will crack," said Rodriguez.
Inspect your windshield wiper blades as well. They usually work effectively for about a year and over time they tend to crack.
Lastly, let your vechile warm up for three to five minutes before driving to ensure all sensors are working properly.
