Wind chill advisory in effect for Rio Grande Valley

A wind chill advisory is in effect from midnight Thursday until 3 p.m. Friday for the Rio Grande Valley.

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a wind chill advisory with wind chill values of 20 to 30 degrees.

Wind chills will fall below 30 degrees around midnight and continue at very low values through 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Hypothermia could develop over the short amount of time if persons and animals are not protected. Vegetation could be stressed or damaged by the cold winds and should be covered or brought inside.
