Willacy County's District Attorney, Juan Guerra spoke to News Center 23 about his absence in court, and the upcoming arraingment hearing.

Without Guerra being in court, Yesterday, Judge Manuel Banales would not allow the hearing to move forward.

Guerra says, he was never informed of any hearing, so he went to Mexico to visit some family.

"I was unaware there was going to be a hearing, we did the indictment and then left town," he says.

But he says, he'll be there tomorrow.

Yesterday, Defense lawyers were upset with Guerra's No-show, because they say, they wanted to settle everything before Guerra leaves office.

Defense lawyer for Vice-President Dick Cheney, Tony Canales, says the multi-count indictments have no validity.

The DA disagrees.

Guerra says there is plenty of evidence to prove that these high-profile elected officials are involved in organized crime involving local prisons.

The hearing will take place Friday morning at the Willacy County Courthouse, and you can count on News Center 23 to be there to bring you the very latest.
