Strong storm system delivers damaging winds and rain.

A strong storm system is churned through Southeastern and Atlantic states overnight.

The Atlanta, Georgia area was in the cross-hairs of the storm Tuesday.

Violent winds tore roofs off of several homes in Gwinnett County.

At least 56 houses were damaged.

Residents of central Mississippi are also surveying damage from the storm.

Homes and buildings were knocked off their foundations; at least 15 people were injured.

In northern Alabama drenching rains and flooding were the problem.

More than three inches of rain fell in many locations, closing roads and delaying school openings.

On the back-end of the powerful storm system, a wintry scene.

Snow fell from Memphis, Tennessee to Omaha, Nebraska and as far north as Minneapolis and Fargo.

Heavy rains are in the forecast Wednesday along the I-95 corridor.

Strong winds are also in the forecast for the eastern seaboard.
