As Christmas approaches people in the Valley are packing and shipping gifts to friends and family all across the U.S.

As Christmas approaches people in the Valley are packing and shipping gifts to friends and family all across the U.S.

In fact, UPS predicts to send 185,000 packages in Brownsville before December 25th.

So if you want to get a gift to someone before Santa slides down the chimney, don't wait!

"Try to get here as soon as you can so we can get them out, so we can get them to where ever they are going too," said Jesse Molina, UPS Store Manager.

Places like UPS recommend packing items separately and making sure if you pack it yourself it is securely closed. But if you're not sure, they say to bring it in so they can look at it.

"We'll custom make the box for you. We can custom make the box for you any size, any shape," said Molina.

Picking out the right tape is important too. UPS said no masking tape!

Also to be careful about using older boxes.

"You can use old boxes but we do not recommend that you do. If you bring it in and we ask you what the value is, and you want to declare it for more than the normal value, which is $100.00, we will offer to repack it for you," said Molina.

This year UPS is even doing more for customers. They are offering a gift wrapping service along with packing up the gift to ship. So, if you have an unusual sized gift, bring it in and they will wrap it and ship it all in one swoop.

Make sure to have all your gifts into shipping companies with enough time.
