Western Wildfires Spread
Firefighters struggle to gain control in Arizona and Texas.
Monday was another nerve-wracking day for people in the paths of huge wildfires in Arizona.
Thousands of those who were evacuated over the weekend still have no idea what the fires are doing to their homes.
12,000 people evacuated from the area around Sierra Vista could only watch and wonder.
The so-called Monument Fire bearing down on the area is only 27-percent contained.
Residents wanting to return were turned back by law enforcement.
Still, firefighters are optimistic that they're getting the upper hand.
"What we are looking at are lower temperatures, higher humidity today, which is very good," said Fire Information Officer Gil Knight.
The calmer weather was more conducive to aerial assaults on the fire as well.
