Weslaco's City Manager Resigns

Weslaco's City Manager -- Anthony Covacevich is without a job tonight and the search for a new City Manager is on.
Tonight, Weslaco's City Commissioners were set to vote on the firing of City Manager, Anthony Covacevich, but he did not leave the decision up to them.

Anthony Covacevich, read his letter of resignation as Weslaco's City Manager.
Mayor Buddy De La Rosa accepted it.
Mayor De La Rosa says Covacevich is leaving with no hard feelings,
But in his five years as City Manager, there were times when they butted heads.
The Mayor says, "I felt things should be handled one way and he thought they should be handled another way. There were financial issues, there were administrative issues," he says.
Previously, City Commissioners tried to fire covacavich but there were not enough votes to have him removed.
We tried to speak to Covacevich, but he did not want to discuss his resignation.
The interim City Manager will be Francisco Castellanos.
He used to work for Workforce in Harlingen, and has been a consultant for Weslaco.
Within the next 90 days, They'll be selecting their permanent City Manager.
A committee of citizens from each district, along with the commissioners and the Mayor will choose the best person for the job.
