Weslaco Police Searching for Robbery Suspect

Several law enforcement agencies spent the morning searching for an armed man who robbed a convenience store and fired shots at police.

The search for the suspect is still on and Weslaco police say a Hispanic man dressed in a black shirt, blue jeans, and a baseball cap with a bandana over his face. He is suspected of going into a Stripes store around 5am Monday morning and robbing the cashier of the money in the register. He was seen leaving in a truck as police responded to the crime and firing his gun at police.

Weslaco police gave chase for several blocks until the suspect drove into traffic and lost control hitting a tree. He exited the truck and took off on foot and has not been found.
