Weslaco mother arrested for leaving toddler locked inside hot car
WESLACO, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A Weslaco mother has been arrested and charged with child endangerment after leaving her child locked inside a vehicle.
On Wednesday, June 26, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Weslaco police were called to the parking lot of the Walmart, located at 1310 N. Texas Blvd., in regards to an unattended child inside a locked car.
When the responding officer arrived the recorded temperature was nearly 99 degrees and the officer noticed the child, 1 year and 10 months, was soaked in sweat.
One of the vehicle's window was broken and EMS was called to scene to medically evaluate and treat the toddler.
Police were able to locate the mother, Claudia Garza, 34, arrest and charge her with child endangerment and set a bail of $30,000.
