WESLACO - The regularly scheduled Tuesday night City Hall meeting was anything but regular as two sides to the proposed Knapp Medical Center sale watched as the mayor and council members appointed six individuals to the hospital authority.

The decision will rest on them to decide whether or not Knapp Medical is bought out. Dr. Sandra Esquivel, Marcos Hernandez, Elida De Leon, Rick Quintanilla, Gloria Egli and Dr. Letica Volpe joined Benita Valadez to form the seven member voting party.

Nurse Guadalupe Costillo said, "I think that they would be in favor of not selling, but I think that it will also give a better chance for the decision to be made more constructive for the community. I think that we'll have a better chance of discussing both issues whether positive or negative and a better decision will be made."

No date for a final vote  on the sale has been set yet, but the City of Weslaco will hold an informative meeting on the subject Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM at city hall.
