Wendy Davis files paperwork to run for governor
Austin, TX — Texas' candidates for governor became official on Saturday.
Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis filed the paperwork at an internet shipping company in downtown Austin.
Davis said she will focus on job creation.
Nearby, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed his papers to fun for governor, at the Republican party headquarters.
Abbott's registration was a bit more eventful, dozens showed up to protest his support of Texas' controversial abortion law, the same measure Davis famously filibustered.
The upcoming gubernatorial election could be a tight race.
The most recent polls have Abbott with a single digit lead over Davis.
