Webb County Deputy Constable Indicted for Accepting Bribes

WEBB CO- A Webb County Deputy Constable is in hot water after being accused of protecting drug smugglers. Eduardo Garcia, 44, of Laredo was arrested and indicted Tuesday morning in federal court.
Officials say back in 2008, he accepted bribes totaling more than $500 to protect drug smuggling cars as they transported cocaine.
A grand jury issued a four count indictment to Garcia which includes three counts of extortion and one county of unauthorized access to protect computer information.
If convicted, he could face 20 years in prison without parole.
