A new Wal-Mart store is coming to the Valley and it's expected to bring about 300 jobs with it.

A new Wal-Mart supercenter in Hidalgo was announced today.  It will be at the corner of West Dicker Road and South Jackson Road.  Next summer is the expected opening of the new store, which will be 182,000 square feet.

"This supercenter is one of our larger formats. So we decided to make a major investment and not bring in a small store," said Mark Jackson, regional general manager for Wal-Mart in South Texas. "We wanted to bring in a larger store so it could be one stop shopping for the local community as well as the Mexican nationals who come across the border, so we can help them improve their lives as well. We're really excited about the partnership."

The new location is just about five miles from another supercenter on East Jackson in McAllen.
