Waiting Out The Water

Tuesday, May 10, 2011 - 2:56pm

Flooding expected to continue for several weeks.

Flood waters continue to cause problems across the South.

Hundreds have been pushed from their homes and thousands more are watching and wondering if they may be next.

The Mississippi River has reached its peak in Memphis, but that city is still struggling with the water.

The water will be around for at least two more weeks.

Life is being altered down-river now as well.

Luck has run out in Tunica, Mississippi, where nine casinos will be closed for a month or more.

In Vicksburg the flood waters are forcing many families to move to higher ground.

The Army Corps of Engineers is already working to protect New Orleans, opening the gates on the Bonnet Carre Spillway and sending the water into Lake Pontchartrain.
