Volunteers needed for annual Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off
AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The Texas Department of Transportation are asking for volunteers to help pick up litter, at various locations throughout the state, on April 6th.
The 27th Annual Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, a partnership between Keep Texas Beautiful and the state's Department of Transportation, is the largest single day cleanup event.
Volunteers from across the state will collect litter along roadways, public places, parks, neighborhoods and waterways on Saturday, April 6th. In 2012, more than 80,000 volunteers participated in the Trash-Off. Because of their efforts, approximately 7 million pounds of trash were removed from Texas communities.
