Villa Maria Students Spend Summer Learning New Languages
It may be summer but it doesn’t feel that way at the Villa Maria Language Institute in Brownsville. That is because the school is currently filled with more than 100 students attending classes.
“I am planning on learning all of it because it is so fun for me,” says 7-year old Andrea Lucia.
Andrea and her friend Gisela Velasquez are a part of the Villa Maria’s Summer Language Program which has been helping students learn new languages for more than twenty years.
“The teachers are really good and I think it is a good experience,” says Gisela.
Gisela traveled from Victoria, Mexico to participate in the program. Both she and Andrea are learning the basics on how to speak French.
“It is kind of like a normal school because we are learning but we don't have grades,” says Gisela.
The four-week summer program is open to students of all ages and offers over five languages to choose from.
