The Valley is now home to a new arena football team--the RGV Sol is the newest team in the Lone Star Arena Football league, and games are just around the corner.

"It really feels amazing," said RGV Sol president Jennifer Andrews.  "RGV has always been a great supporter of arena football and football in general, so we're just really excited to be able to bring the sport back to the Valley."

The Sol head football coach Coco Blalock says the team plans to start off with a bang and will aim at scoring one hundred points each game.

"When I say 'score a hundred points,' it's things that people have never done," said Blalock.  "And being a coach in the Valley and being a former player, we wanna give the Valley things no one's ever seen.  So if we're scoring a hundred points and having a blast and winning ball games, every body wants to be a part of that."

A handful of Valley players have a good chance of actually being a part of the hype.  While most of the athletes have been recruited from across the country, some of the players are local talent.

"I have 11 guys on my roster from the Valley that can play," Blalock said.  "They're bumping shoulders with guys that played in the NFL, went to these big schools, and they're doing a phenomenal job.  These guys in the Valley play phenomenally, and a lot of them are gonna make my team."

The Sol's first game is on March 24 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo.  Tickets start at $10.
