A new study, out of the Valley, says growing organic vegetables on small plots can be profitable for land owners of fewer than three acres. The Texas Agri-Life Extension Service, in Weslaco, says families can earn up to $45,000 dollars a year as Dr. Luis Ribera stated, "There's a lot of people with half an acre, four or five acres of land, and they can make money off it. It can be a business, a family business, your kids can help and your wife can help too."
