Valley Metro Bus Reports Increase in Ridership
MCALLEN — More Valley residents have decided to ride on Valley Metro buses because since October of 2011 Valley Metro bus ridership has increase more than 80%. Valley Metro buses are now transporting about 10,000 people a day and one reason for the increase is that Hidalgo county is offering free rides until September. Valley Metro Director Tom Logan stated, "It is going to be very affordable, we are hoping to start the service with a dollar a ride and then we have discounted rates. Pretty much discounted almost 50% so people can ride, kids under seven ride free." The Valley Metro covers the four counties in the Valley and run from Monday through Saturday from 6 AM to 8 PM.
