Proposed health care reform is in the works in Washington...but the much debated plan has many confused and many more upset. So tonight, Congressman Henry Cuellar brought the issue right here to the Rio Grande Valley, with a town hall meeting which hundreds attended.
Health care is something which affects everyone...especially families.
"If it does pass, it will affect my children, grandchildren, this is a bill, that will affect all Americans."
A health care reform bill is a controversial issue, which Chuck Stewart and his 17-year old son, Daniel say they're passionate about.
"Congressman, are you listening because we have the vote, and that's the only power we have."
He says, he wants U.S. Congresmman, Henry Cuellar to listen up.
"The congressman seemed to agree with everything we said, he said, that was a good question, I agree."
Hundreds of folks spoke out to Congressman Cuellar, on how they don't support government-mandated health care...and they want the bill to be re-thought.
"If you agree, Congressman, scrap the bill, and start over."
Health care is a big concern for many Valley residents.
Recently, "The New Yorker Magazine" ranked Hidalgo County, as having the highest health care costs in the United States.
One in four Texans does not even have health insurance.
