UTPA's Weekly Segment Looks at It's Nursing Program

Students in UTPA's Nursing Program had an opportunity to get hands on experience during a series of teaching fairs they organized and conducted themselves as part of their course work, Sandra Quintanilla has more.

Performers strutted their stuff dancing to salsa routines to get their message across about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These folks used martial arts techniques as another way to stay fit. These presentations along with several other activities made for a successful teaching fair on the campuses of the South Texas Preparatory Academy and Business Education and Technology Academy in Edinburg. Seniors in UTPA's Community Nursing course organized and hosted the event that brought in students, parents, members of the public and UT Pan American's very own President Dr. Robert Nelsen. They took advantage of screenings made available and learned important tips about preventing and treating diabetes.
