UTPA's Annual Regional Science Bowl Competition
The University of Texas Pan American along with the U.S. Department of Energy attracted nearly 40 middle and high school students for the Annual Regional Science Bowl Competition. As Sandra Quintanilla tells us the event exposed all the students to science and math related fields.
An intense hydro fuel cell car race, a spectacular chemistry show, creative hands-on experiments and a challenging science and math academic competition. These activities and much more made up this year's exciting Regional Science Bowl held recently on the campus of UTPA. Teams representing 38 middle and high schools from across South Texas tested their knowledge within the areas of science and mathematics by answering questions in a fast paced, game show style face off. The prize, an all expensive paid trip to the National Science Bowl in Washington D.C. and the opportunity to compete with students from all across the nation. The competition proved to be nerve racking and challenging but also fun for the participants.
