EDINBURG - The University of Texas Pan American is preparing to knock down their fine arts building.

Campus officials tell us a state funded grant has given the University enough funds to remodel and upgrade the building.

University officials say they haven't rebuilt or even built any new buildings on campus for more than ten years.

It's a change they are extremely happy to make. ""The Valley has grown tremendously in 40 years, we were very fortunate to have it 40 years ago, 42 years ago. But we have outgrown it. So now it is time for a larger and better building that will accommodate, not only our students, but the entire community. We want everyone in the Rio Grande Valley to enjoy it," said Veronica Gonzalez, UTPA Vice President of University Advancement.

The campus also plans to build an new recital hall. But the four million dollar building will need to be funded through private donations. To donate, call 956-665-5301. Campus officials say there are plenty of classroom and building naming opportunities still available.
