UTB test school for new Facebook app on getting a sober ride home
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The University of Texas at Brownsville has been selected, by TxDOT, as one of three other Texas schools to test a new Facebook app known as P.A.S.S. (Person Appointed to Stay Sober) to get students home safely after they have consumed alcohol.
The P.A.S.S. app integrates with Facebook's existing event planning component, enabling users to coordinate sober rides and it will be promoted by students within the Greek system and on campus.
The app will work once a Facebook event has been created through the app allowing users to locate a sober driver and finding out how many passengers can be transported then compensating the drivers for their gas money.
The other two Texas schools selected to test the app are the University of North Texas and Midwestern State University.
