Some UTB students decided to skip on the partying during spring break and instead help children.

The City of Brownsville approached some UTB art students to paint a mural to make a children's playground a little more lively.

The mural is forest-themed and includes butterflies, frogs and birds.

About five to seven students actually started the mural spring break of last year, and are hoping to finish by the end of this spring break.

Parents say their children are learning about different animals because of the mural.

"It's not an actual live animal, but um, it does," said project coordinator and UTB CCE coordinator Estela Martinez. "It's a good way for parents to teach their children, so that's one of the main reasons why the jungle theme was thought about because we wanted to have it as a teaching opportunity for parents as well."

The mural is located at 7th and Harrison Streets in Brownsville.
