UTB Players and Fans Produced Facebook Page to Save Baseball Program

BROWNSVILLE - Last month the University of Texas at Brownsville announced plans that they were discontinuing the baseball program after the 2011-2012 season.

The announcement came as a shock to the coaches, players and fans because of the program's recent success. Last season, the Scorpion baseball team made it to the opening round of the NAIA National Championship and since the announcement many fans and players have taken to the internet in an effort to save the program. A Facebook page titled, "Save the UTB Baseball Program" was created and now has more than 250 supporters.
