BROWNSVILLE - The University of Texas at Brownsville currently is out for classes but their chess teams are hard at work.

Both the UTB A and B chess team swept their first round matches at the 2011 Pan American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championships. The A team defeated the University of Toronto 4 to 0 and the B team defeated the University of Miami by the same score. The team also won their second round matches just a few hours ago and will advance to the third round. The competition is set to continue on Thursday.
