UTB and TSC awarded federal grant for physics research
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Faculty members, from the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, were awarded a government grant to study micro toroidal resonators.
Dr. Malik Rakhmanov and Dr. Volker Quetschke are collaborating with Dr. Qianfan Xu, of Rice University in Houston, to enable a postdoctoral research assistant and a student to work alongside the professors to learn about nanophotonics.
Nanophotonics is the study of light and matter on a nanometer scale for telecommunication and computation. Professors hope the work they do will help in the understanding of light matter interactions at the nano scale.
Much of the research will be conducted at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
