UT Chancellor Says Report of Staff Cutbacks Premature
BROWNSVILLE - The Chancellor of the University of Texas System says published reports about possible staff and employee cutbacks at UTB are jumping the gun.
Newspaper reports on Tuesday morning say that cuts involving hundreds of employees would be announced this spring as part of the split between the University of Texas as Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. In a written statement, UT System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa stated, "Those reports are premature and very unfortunate." Cigarroa says there have been no formal discussions about possible cutbacks.
