The U.S. State Department has issued an updated travel warning for Mexico.

The State Department is warning U.S. citizens about the risk of traveling in Mexico due to threats to safety and security by criminal organizations in the country.

The travel warning replaces the old one issued last July and includes new information about the security situation.

The new warning says the number of U.S. citizens reported to the Consulate as kidnapped in 2013 increased by 75% over 2012.
