MCALLEN - McAllen Police are looking for a male suspect that they believe shot a young Edinburg woman early Thursday morning.

Police issues a warrant for the arrest of Javier Valles Jr., 24, for Criminal Attempt Murder, a second degree felony.

They believe Valles shot Claudia Elizabeth Gonzales, 19, after Gonzalez refused a sexual advance from Valles.

Police said two other individuals were in the motel room that night, a male and a female, whose names are not being released.

The four friends came to the La Casita Motel to party and drink.

Police are looking for any information on the alleged suspect.

"We think he has gone to Mexico, he is known to us as a deported felon at this point in time, with a previous violent offense on his record," said Victor Rodriguez, McAllen Police Chief.

Police said Gonzalez is likely to survive.

Even though the motel has been linked to prostitution in the past, McAllen Police do not believe Gonzales or this incident to be prostitution related.

If you have any information, please call McAllen Crime Stoppers at 956-687-8477. You may be eligible for a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest and/or conviction.
