University of Texas at Brownsville Gathering Ideas for New Mascot

BROWNSVILLE - It's been an interesting year for the University of Texas at Brownsville as the school moves ahead with dissolving it's partnership with Texas Southmost College and that also means a new mascot is in the works.

The university has been using social media to gather ideas from students about their mascot suggestions. Students and fans of the Facebook page have posted ideas ranging from the Chupacabra to the Great White sharks. The university has not dropped the scorpion as the current mascot, but they searching for a newer version that's still representative of South Texas.
