Undocumented immigrants detained by Border Patrol in Edinburg stash house
EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Two dozen undocumented immigrants are now in the custody of Border Patrol after Edinburg police discovered a stash house in a residential area.
The bust happened earlier on Monday before 5 p.m. at a house located in the 300 block of San Pedro. Police received a tip about a possible stash house and arrested 18 men and six women staying in the home.
Border Patrol officials say the immigrants are from Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.
Lt. Oscar Trevino from the Edinburg Police Department stated, "They appear to be okay, as far as their health is concerned. The interior of the residence was not in deplorable conditions as we've seen before. They were being fed, they were being given something to drink. Border Patrol was contacted and they will take over the investigation."
