TX House of Representatives passes abortion bill
AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The Texas House of Representatives approved HB 2 which would restrict abortions in the state on Wednesday with a final vote of 96-49, in favor.
The restrictions will effectively close all but five abortion clinics in the state due to the measures in the bill which are:
- Banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
- Requiring doctors, performing the procedures, to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles.
- All abortions to be performed in surgical centers.
A final vote could be held as early as Friday in the Senate where it's expected to pass.
