Two Valley City's Sign Water Agreement
Two Valley mayors have signed an agreement to share drinking water distribution.
McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez, along with Hidalgo Mayor John David Franz, signed a plan to deliver drinking water from McAllen to the City of Hidalgo. McAllen will provide about 1.5 million gallons a day of treated drinking water to the City of Hidalgo to supplement or replace its current drinking water sources. McAllen officials say the City of Hidalgo will provide raw water to the McAllen South Treatment Plant at its cost and then redistribute the treated water it receives from McAllen to Hidalgo citizens.
