Two Suspects Charged With Capital Murder
Police Say They Killed An Elderly Man in Mission
Mark and Laura Kimmons couldn't fight back their tears after the two men who killed their father were charged with capital murder this afternoon.
Police say David Tarbutton and Leroy Arista entered a home on 2 mile lane Tuesday night and beat 86 yr old Willis Kimmons to death with a crobar. They say Tarbutton knew the victim.
"One of the suspects knew who he was, has been there before, had even gone hunting with him even. He knew he had guns," said Sgt. Jody Tiddle.
Police say the motive was the guns. Tarbutton was stabbed multiple times recently and was seeking revenge.
He confessed to breaking into the house and stealing some of the victim's weapons collection.
The mother of one of the suspects, Peggy Arista, was charged with tampering with evidence.
Police say she knew about the incident and lied.
Bail for both of the men was set at $5 million. They will remain at the Hidalgo County Detention Center.
If convicted they face life in prison with out parole or death by lethal injection.
