RIO GRANDE VALLEY - They are both considered good mid size cities with a lot to offer, Harlingen and McAllen have been named two of the top ten cheapest to live inside the United States. Several business sites across the U.S. named these two cities some of the best cities, which give you the best bang for your buck in terms of cost.  McAllen made number six on the list and Harlingen made topped it by making number one.

In Harlingen the average home price is just over $200,000 and mix that in with a low living cost,  like cheap gas prices, makes it even more attractive to those who want to relocate to this city.

Besides the low cost of living in both of these cities, some of the benefits of living there also include easy accessibility to malls, museums, and much of the outdoors minus an expensive metropolitan cost of living style.

Less traffic and congestion along with cheap city parking also contributes the low cost of living in both Harlingen and McAllen.
